The Pre-War Years: 1933 - 1941
16 Jan 1933 was the day the school opened its doors to 245 pupils. The team which was with the school from its opening day were Brothers Loarn, Stephen, Bernard, Rupert and Frederick, together with four lay teachers, F. Sobrielo, Bernard Nicholas, Arthur Phillips and John Snodgrass.
The school’s cadet corps, formed on 9 June 1936, made their public debut during the King’s coronation in 1937.
1938 was the year when St. Patrick’s surpassed all other boys school in Singapore in its Cambridge results.
In 1940, the school was taken over by the military in preparation for war and the students were transferred to St Joseph’s and Telok Kurau.
